    Hi,

I would appreciate if someone could explain the difference between a simple RC circuit versus a T-circuit (three Rs and single C). What would be the difference in sound of both circuits? Is the T-circuit designed to better match the impedance of the 288/802?

    Thanks.

The advantage of the "T" circuit is to also provide a degree of
impedance stabilization over its frequency range.
This helps the crossover to function properly.

Referring to the diagram below, as the frequency increases, C1 becomes
less resistive, turning the 2 R1s more into a parallel component rather than
a series. This provides over all constant impedance as seen by the crossover.

The plain R/C will change impedance with frequency.

Hope this helps, keeping it simple. forums
